We do not collect extra rubbish left out next to your purple lidded bin, or empty your bin if the lid is left open. Where does the content of the purple lidded bin go?Any materials placed in the purple lidded bin goes to landfill sites. As we produce more rubbish, space in landfill sites begins to run out. It's important that we work together to reduce, re-use and recycle as much as possible. What day will my bin be collected?Use our mapping system to find your waste/recycling collection day. You can find out what colour bin is due for collection this week by viewing the Calendar of Collections for your round. Missed collectionsIf your purple lidded bin was not collected we will no longer return to collect it unless there was
The council will not return until your next scheduled collection for any other reason. This means bins need to be out before 7am on their collection day and placed where your property meets the pavement (or in your designated collection areas). Replacing purple lidded binsResidents will now be charged £5 for replacement purple lidded bins, unless they were broken or damaged during the actual bin collections. To reduce the risk of your bin being lost, misplaced or stolen, residents are advised to number and/or personalise their bins. This makes it easier for the crews to put bins back in the right place. If your bin is damaged or broken during the collection the crew will record this using the tracker system, you will receive a card through your door notifying you that a replacement has been ordered. Where does my cardboard go?We take your cardboard to a reprocessor. There, card is processed into unique and innovative packaging, displays and products. This includes easy glue packaging, dangerous goods packaging, adhesive and sealant cartridges, composite packs, corrugated pallets and heavy duty packaging |
Green BinWhat goes in the green wheelie bin?The green wheelie bin is for all your green garden waste. A list of what can and cannot be placed in the bin is available below. Yes Please

We will not collect your green bin if it contains any of the rubbish listed above. Please remove the rubbish and put it into your purple lidded bin. Winter collectionsWe no longer collect green waste from November through to March as we collect food waste weekly as part of the new brown caddy service. You can download a calendar showing you when your green waste service stops and resumes. Where does the content of the Green Bin go?Your garden waste will be taken to a composting facility. What happens to my recycling?Paper is used in newsprint, plastic is turned into sheeting and pipes, tins and cans go towards everything from cars to roller blind systems. Glass gets processed back into glass bottles and textiles are sorted and sold as clothes in the UK and overseas. The remainder is used for cleaning cloths and sound proofing. What day will my box be collected?Use our mapping system to find your waste/recycling collection day. I have too much recycling for my black box, what can I do?We can provide you with a second box. To request a new bin/black box/blue bag complete the online form or call 01495 766608.
